walmart online

several days ago, the new york post and usa today mentioned walmart getting into the online music business.

at that time, the wall street journal (couldn’t find a link) pegged it at about 200,000 tracks, mostly country. walmart being walmart, you can imagine they are likely to break the “99 cent” barrier that has become the universal per-track price point. and you can bet that they will use a little leverage to get those terms. and i think they aren’t going to be happy with the itunes economics (they apparently expect to make money on this, and they aren’t selling ipods).

with itunes (mac) launched in april (i think) and itunes (windows) launched in october 2003, it’s taken very, very little time for this field to get crowded enough to make it interesting to walmart.

now we might get to see just how much blood you can squeeze out of an artist.

    I hope someone’s called the people who posted their phone numbers (crying laughter) and pretend to be Managers from Wal-Mart. If not, I’m half-tempted to.

    The only thing more incredibly stupid than the fact this goes on a half mile down the page, is the fact that some of these people think that you can magically mail them a application to their house, despite the fact they’ve provided no mailing address or name (if you even could do such a thing). They must think they’re the only beings on the whole “innernet”. LMFAO

  91. Hello my name is Yolanda Figueroa and I’m 18 years old. I have been looking forward to working with Walmart for a while now for the night shift. I had 2 jobs in my whole life and they never seemed to work out. I’m a very devoted person when it comes to work and I really need a job. I came into Walmart in Brockton mass and talked to a clerk that worked there at the service desk and she told me that your hiring manager was on vacation and too come back in 2 weeks but under no control I’ve been having very difficult problems and have not been able to come down there.     I think perhaps this site would serve as a wonderful defense against the No Child Left Behind legislation. Or at least it could muster up some funding for a national literacy campaign.

  181. Alright, this site is messed up. Its actually true to what its called “Walmart Online” just like a title to an article or something. Everyone has interpreted it as the link to the Walmart Online Employment Application. Does the title suggest this? Yes, but it never says “application” or “employment”. Online, in this site, refers to Walmart going into the online business with music. Everyone needs to read the first part, not what others have stated as wanting an application because that will throw you off by what this is really about.   243. Boy I tell you what i use to work at walmart and it was the best place to work. I could take a nap anytime i wanted and head over and grab a bag of chips and “weeze” the juice all I wanted. Boy I wish you would send me an application. I actually have to work at the job I have now. I really would like to get back on the gravy train. I think that if you hired me back on, I would really big. I might even make it on tv. Some people say I look alot like Kenny Rogers. You might be able to use that to your advantage.     I have been dreaming of employment from you for years. Ever since I returned from the war missing my left arm and right leg, I have thought about being a greeter for my friendly neighborhood Wal-mart. However, due to the fact that all of my teeth have been knocked out in a freak snowmobiling accident, I will not actually be able to “greet” anyone untill i get my new dentures. Due to the missing leg, i will not be able to stand until I get a couple of paychecks to purchase a prosthetic limb. I also will only be able to work nights due to my acute porhpiria, because of my extreme sensitivity to light. I have regained almost 30% of my vision from the tragic winter olympic torch accident that you have probably read about. Also if it is OK with you, I would like to sleep during the day in the back room, because I have no home thanks to the localized flash flooding that occured in my trailer park. The police have told me that if they find the beavers responsible for breaking the dam, they will be shot on sight. So i got that going for me. I will be available to start as soon as the doctors confirm that my Rabies is no longer transmittable, and the pustules on my private area subside. I will have a written consent form from my pshyciatrist stating that my Turetts syndrome is nearly under control as long as I take my medication. Hope you have a Pharmacist on duty. I promise that my cleptomania will not interfer with my job performance as long as I am not tempted again by shiny objects. Also, as you will notice on my application that I was AQUITTED of the six cases of arson that I have been tried for. I have begun ignoring the voices in my head that tell me to burn things, so you will not have to worry about that. Please e-mail me the application so that I may begin filling it out. It will take me a while to fill it out because of the Parkinsons that has ravaged my remaining limbs. I hope that neatness doesnt count in my case.   288. I cannot believe this is still going on a year and a half later. This is hillariously funny, yet incredibly pathetic. I just can’t quite wrap my brain around how someone would think this is an online application site for walmart. It doesn’t look anything like walmart’s site, isn’t a walmart domain, and oh…I guess the most telling thing of all is that *the blog entry doesn’t even talk about walmart job applications*.

    Seriously, come on people.

    If I were to ever hire someone, I would do a google search on their name. If I found you on here posting all this info trying to get a job at walmart from this site, I’d toss out your application immediately.

  325. Frist of all I would like to say thank you for giving me an aportuntin to work for wal-mart. It was the best 3an half years well it had its ups an downs belive me i know. I had the chance to make a career of my aportuntin but i guess i really wasnt thinking.
