The Case of Pete Panse [art renewal]Pete Panse is a talented and popular high school art teacher in Middletown, NY who uses traditional techniques to to train his students. In December 2005 Mr. Panse was suspended from his job for recommending that some of his advanced students consider taking figure drawing courses that included nude figure drawings. Mr. Panse is suspended from his job pending hearings after which he may be permanently fired, ending a 25-year teaching career. In the meantime, his students are sitting in study hall learning nothing and failing to prepare the materials necessary for their receiving scholarships.

perhaps even more importantly, save a good teacher for the children yet to come.
erm, panse never helped me at all, just wanted to throw it out there. he taught crap for weeks, getting us nowhere, and it’s no one else’s business but Middletown High School’s the and parent’s whether panse comes back or not. so, there. not someone from Jersey, Vermont, Maine, no. Us, here in Middletown. Back off, you don’t live here, you only read stuff in the paper! you have no clue the real man–everything in the paper is distorted, okay? it never fails around here, the papers are crap.

I can’t believe this! I live in Canada - and just hope that Pete Panse will come to Canada to work - Alberta College of Art & Design in Calgary, or University of Calgary, or University of Lethbridge. Or various other artistic institutions across the country would I’m sure be happy to have him as a teacher.
People who think like this school board and those parents have what we always called a “dirty mind”. They see filth wherever they look - they’re basically filthy-minded.

I found your blog searching for more info about Peter Panse. I can’t believe this! What a shame! There is a big difference between viewing the human body as art and looking at it as porn. He just suggested it, it’s not like he brought models into the classroom. Sheesh!
